SIX months!!!!

Owen is SIX months old today!!! Like I always say, time flys! He's getting so big!! Literally!! lol! We had to start the day off at the doctor's office so he could get his six month shots. =( You'd think as many times as I've had to go through it with Olivia and now him that it would get easier, but it doesn't. It's just pitiful. It's instant hurt and then they'll just look at you and cry. It breaks my heart every time.
Here he is waiting to see Dr.Joyce and waiting to get the dreaded shots. Like I said, he's getting to be one big boy!
He weighs: 16.6 pounds!!
He's also started holding his bottle. It's so cute. I also like to "faux-hawk" his hair. LOL! Dr. Joyce said she guessed since he doesn't have very much hair that I have to do something with what he's got and she's right about that. All of his hair is on top. He's pretty much bald in the back. LOL!
Unfortunately, he's still not sleeping through the night. We usually get up with him around 3 to 4 times a night!! Thankfully Ben's a great dad and we usually split the time between us. However, Dr. Joyce said we can start him on baby food today so maybe that will help. He will not eat the rice cereal. I've tried and tried and tried and he HATES it. So we've just been giving him his formula and half strength apple juice. We've finally got a formula that he's satisfied with. He's now on Enfamil for Fussiness and Gas. It's helped out a bunch, but like I said, he's still not sleeping. It makes it hard because Olivia has always slept, but Owen is just a totally different baby.
He's definitely wired differently than Olivia. She's always slept through the night and has always had a pretty good appetite, but he doesn't have those traits. He's can just wear me out. I love him dearly, but he likes to be held and Olivia was just never that way. She's always been Miss Independent. But he's so sweet. I just can't believe how big he's getting. People kill me because I took them with me to Wal-Mart the other day and Olivia was sitting in the front and Owen was in the buggie in his carrier and someone said, "look, twins!" I mean really? Really? First off, yes they are almost the same size, but one is walking and talking and the other one is in a baby carrier. It doesn't really make sense to me.
However, this is one way to get Owen to light up. I think this is the happiest that I've ever seen him. This is his little girlfriend Keeli (or Kiki as Olivia calls her). She's two weeks younger then Owen, but he just loves her. They came over the other day for a play date and him and her had the best time. They just look at one another and try to grab each other. It's so cute! I can't wait until they get older and they can really play with one another. They're so sweet!

Owen,
You have made our lives complete! I bawled and scawled when we found out that we were having you, but now that you're here, I wouldn't trade it for the world! Your sister absolutely adores you and I have to say your daddy and I feel the same. You are my sweet little man and I'm so glad God blessed us with you!!
We love you!!

Owen 2 Months

It's hard to believe that two months have already went by,
but they have and Owen is now TWO months old!
He weighs 11 lbs. & 12 oz.
His height is 21"
His head circumference is 15 1/4"
I have to say, he's momma's little man. =)
He's still not sleeping thru the night.
He usually wakes up at least twice a night.
However, I took him to a massage therapist last week
to see if she could help with his colic/acid reflux
and since then he has slept one full night in his OWN bed.
YAY! Because on the nights that he doesn't sleep,
he's either put in our bed or his swing,
so I'm hoping he'll start sleeping in his bed.
He's also on Enfamil for fussiness & gas formula.
I was nursing, but it was not settling good with him
and his stomach seemed to be worse,
so we switched him to formula
and it has helped.
He's also started smiling and cooing.
It's the cutest thing!
I had to take both him and Olivia to get shots today. =(
Here they are waiting to see the doctor.
I have to say that I think we've adjusted
quite well since Owen's arrival.
I figured Olivia would try to kill him,
but as you can see from the picture above,
she loves him dearly!
She has to kiss him at least 100 times a day
and if he gets fussy and she doesn't think that
I'm getting to him quick enough,
she starts freaking out.
I think she's going to be a very protective big sister!
All in all, we're having the time of our lives
with our two babies.

Happy 2 months Owen!
WE LOVE YOU!!

Life is Oh So Good

I know I've taken a little blogging break, but we've had lots going on. Let's see, where to begin, how about Christmas Day. Christmas morning we woke up, opened presents & waited for my parents to come over so we could open presents with them. They arrived & we opened more presents & then I went to use the restroom. (sorry for all the details, but this is how it all happened). After using the restroom, I noticed I lost my mucous plug! Whoa!! That had never happened before. I was also having contractions, so the fam decided I needed to call the doctor. Of course, since it was Christmas day, some other doctor was on-call. He said I needed to come to the hospital just to be evaluated and to have my cervix checked. I lalee-gaged around and finally at 8 something on Christmas night we made a trip down to the hospital. They put me on the monitor, but of course by then I was feeling better, so we were there for about an hour and then they sent us home. False alarm. :-(
I told Ben when they sent us home that I would not go back to the hospital until the 30th (the day my c-section was scheduled) or unless my water broke. Those were the ONLY two conditions! So, the next day we went to church (I still wasn't feeling that great), but I knew I didn't have too much longer & then we would welcome our sweet baby boy to the world. That night we dismissed our church services so people could spend time with their families. Ben & I were supposed to go see the new Narnia movie with his family, but I just wasn't feeling up to it.
The next morning we woke up around 1:30 to Olivia crying. Ben made her a bottle & I went to the bathroom. When I got back to bed I just couldn't get comfortable. I tossed & turned until about 3:00 & then I decided to hit the couch. I dozed off and on, but around 5:30 I started having major contractions! I decided I should probably start timing them & by 7:30 they were 4 to 5 minutes apart! I told Ben to go ahead & go to work because I thought maybe they'd pass, but they didn't! My mom was just getting off work, so she came over. On her way to our house I guess she talked to Ben & she told him to get in touch with Dr. Hodges! (their office was closed, but somehow he got to speak directly to her). She told him to get me to the hospital ASAP! (like I said, I had already decided that I was not going to go to the hospital unless my water broke or it was the 30th). Well, needless to say, when the doctor days get to the hospital, you do just that. My dad cane to our house to get Olivia ready & mom & I took off. (my mom drove like a maniac!!) However, Ben met us at the hospital & they put us in a room in labor & delivery. Not too long after I was admitted Dr. Hodges came in & said there's a c-section going right now, but as soon as they're done we'll take you down- You're having this baby today!! Whoo hoo!! I was overwelmed with all kinds of emotions, but mostly excitement. All this happened around 9:00 am & at 12:04 pm our sweet baby Owen was born.
He weighed 7 lbs. & 5 oz. & was 18.5 inches long. Everything went great! I was given a spinal, but by later that night I was setting up & talking to everyone. The section was just perfect! Sooo much better than Olivia's. Ben got to be back there with me & everything went off without a hitch. The next day I got up & got in the shower- all by myself!! No one knows what a joy that was. The next day after I had Olivia I barely knew who I was, much less bathe myself- the nurse actually gave me a shower, so to say this time was better is a total understatement! And then after only 48 hours & on my birthday, (2 days, instead of 5 days like it was with Olivia), we got to come home! Hallelujah!!
Life has been just great since we've been home. Olivia loves her little brother. She's always giving him kisses, it's the cutest & sweetest thing! I never thought I'd say this, but I'm definitely happy that they're this close together in age & I'm so happy that they'll grow up together. My new most favorite quote is: We may not have it all together, but together we have it all! That totally defines our family at the moment. Thank you for all your thoughts & prayers. I definitely felt them & they're much appreciated!
We're having the time of our lives & these are definitely the moments I want to hold onto & cherish forever!
